Island Honeymoon Destinations

By Randy Wilson

Honeymoons should offer excitement, adventure and romance for newlyweds looking forward to a private time to celebrate their marriage. With this, popular choices for a honeymoon destination would be island honeymoon getaways which offer warm and scenic coastlines, sunny beaches and exotic adventure tours just perfect and absolutely romantic for a great start in life together.

There are just too many possible island honeymoon destinations around the world that a couple can choose to go. Most of them are popular tourist destinations lined with top-notch beach resorts, each of them will full fledge activities and services made just perfect for house guests.

For instanace, there is the warm Kauai Island of Hawaii, Turtle Island in Fiji, and Cheju Island in Korea, with each of these islands offering a blend of local culture and unique cuisine. Of course, there wil be two types of activities. Water-based activities and land-based activities which are common to most island honeymoon destinations.

Land-based activities include spa services, horseback tours, cave explorations, dolphin and whale watching, private chef preparation of local delicacies or other delicacies by special request or ultimately a romantic dinner by the beach.

Cheju Island, for example, offers a scenic waterfall tour, Chonjeyon, also known as the Niagara of Korea. There are also stunning views of Hallasan volcano, a snowcapped mountain in the center of the island and Hallasan, Korea's tallest mountain – a popular site for picnics, afternoon hikes, or rides upon the island's unique breed of horses.

On the other hand, water-based activities such as surfing, scuba diving, swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking are pure fun adventures. In fact, personal trainers or private lessons for these skilled activities are also available locally. However, nothing beats a romantic stroll along a beautiful serene beach, watching sunsets together with a glass of wine in each hand, cuddling up and watching the world pass by.

Holistic planning is a prerequisite for the ultimate island honeymoon. A good approach would be to utilize the internet as a source of information on resorts, tours and activities for your island honeymoon destination. This will allow you to make an informed choice on a good resort that matches your requirements, as well as have an idea of the activities that you can partake in during your holiday. Tourist guidebooks are also great and handy to learn about local culture and scenic spots that you can incorporate into your plan.

Most hotels on the islands offer island honeymoon packages to newlyweds, including wedding functions hosting. These packages usually offer memorable experiences where wedding couples are treated as king and queen during their stay!

Botaira Resort, located on Fiji Island, for instance, offers a truly interesting ‘Deserted Beach Escape’ where a hotel staff will drop you off by boat at a selected beach and pamper you with a feast of tropical culinary delights. The idea here is to provide a perfect day for a honeymoon couple, especially for those who enjoy private moments in a tropical island paradise.

In the end, island honeymoons are just the perfect escapade for couples to get away from the hustle and bustle of the chaotic city lifestyle and renew themselves in a more relaxing and fresh island atmosphere.
